What software do we use?
Adobe Photoshop
:-
Adobe Photoshop, or
simply Photoshop, is a graphics editor developed and published
by Adobe Systems. It is the current market leader for commercial
bitmap and image manipulation, and is the flagship product of
Adobe Systems. It has been described as "an industry standard
for graphics professionals."[1] Although originally designed to
edit images for paper-based printing, Photoshop can also be used
for a wide range of other professional and amateur purposes.
The current (10th) iteration of the program, Photoshop CS3, was
released on 16 April 2007. "CS" reflects its integration with
other Creative Suite products, and the number "3" represents it
as the third version released since Adobe re-branded its
products under the CS umbrella. Photoshop CS3 features additions
such as the ability to apply non-destructive filters, as well as
new selection tools named Quick Selection and Refine Edge that
make selection more streamlined. On April 30th, Adobe released
Photoshop CS3 Extended, which includes all the same features of
Adobe Photoshop CS3 with the addition of capabilities for
scientific imaging, 3D, and high end film and video users.
Adobe Illustrator
:-
Adobe Illustrator is a
vector-based drawing program developed and marketed by Adobe
Systems. It is coded in the C++ programming language[1].Adobe
Illustrator was first developed for the Apple Macintosh in 1986
(shipping in January 1987) as a commercialization of Adobe's
in-house font development software and PostScript file format.
Adobe PageMaker
:-
PageMaker was the first
desktop publishing program, introduced in 1985 by Aldus
Corporation[1], initially for the Apple Macintosh but soon after
also for the PC. It relies on Adobe Systems' PostScript page
description language. In 1994 Aldus and PageMaker were acquired
by Adobe Systems. The current version is PageMaker 7.0, released
July 9, 2001, though updates have been released for the two
supported platforms since. PageMaker was awarded a SPA
Excellence in Software Award for Best New Use of a Computer in
1986.
Many of the graphical user interface (GUI) elements pioneered in
the program have since migrated to the rest of the Adobe suite.
Adobe has positioned PageMaker to compete more for the small
business market, with Adobe InDesign aimed at the high end,
professional designer. PageMaker's feature set is well suited
for publications such as corporate newsletters and the
straight-news sections of newspapers, but for layouts that need
a more complex design, such as magazines or the feature sections
of newspapers, it may take much longer to accomplish the task in
PageMaker than it would in InDesign or QuarkXPress, if the
desired results are possible at all.
While PageMaker is less powerful than InDesign or QuarkXPress,
it is simpler to learn than those two packages and yet more
powerful than Microsoft Publisher. It is not uncommon for
schools that teach page layout to first teach their students
PageMaker to get them comfortable with the concepts of desktop
publishing, then move them on to QuarkXPress or InDesign.
In 2004, Adobe had announce the ending in development of Adobe
PageMaker but will continue to sell and support it. InDesign is
seen as the successor product[2].
The Macintosh version only runs in Mac OS 9; there is no native
support for Mac OS X[3], nor is there support for Intel-based
Macintoshes. It does not run well under Classic (which may have
lead to its nickname of "RageMaker"), and Adobe recommends
customers use an older Macintosh capable of booting into Mac OS
9.
Aldus PageMaker 3.0 for Windows.According to Adobe, PageMaker
"does not install or run on Windows Vista."[4]
Adobe In design
:-
Adobe InDesign
is a desktop publishing software application produced by
Adobe Systems. It is coded in the C++
programming language
Adobe Premier :-
Adobe Premiere Pro,
formerly known as Adobe Premiere, is a real-time, timeline based
video editing software application. It is part of the Adobe
Creative Suite, a suite of graphic design, video editing, and
web development applications made by Adobe Systems. Premiere Pro
has many hardware and software partners, and is included as an
OEM package with high-end video editing cards, such as the
Matrox RT.X2.
Adobe Audition
:-
Adobe Audition (formerly
Cool Edit Pro) is a digital audio editor computer program from
Adobe Systems featuring both a multitrack, non-destructive
mix/edit environment and a destructive-approach waveform editing
view.
Adobe
Flash
:-
Adobe Flash, or simply
Flash, refers to both the Adobe Flash Player, and to the Adobe
Flash Professional multimedia authoring program. Adobe Flash
Professional is used to create content for the Adobe Engagement
Platform (such as web applications, games and movies, and
content for mobile phones and other embedded devices). The Flash
Player, developed and distributed by Adobe Systems (which
acquired Macromedia in a merger that was finalized in December
2005), is a client application available in most common web
browsers. It features support for vector and raster graphics, a
scripting language called ActionScript and bi-directional
streaming of audio and video. There are also versions of the
Flash Player for mobile phones and other non-PC devices.
Strictly speaking, Adobe Flash Professional is an integrated
development environment (IDE) while Flash Player is a virtual
machine used to run, or parse, the Flash files. But in
contemporary colloquial terms "Flash" can refer to the authoring
environment, the player, or the application files.
Since its introduction in 1996, Flash technology has become a
popular method for adding animation and interactivity to web
pages; several software products, systems, and devices are able
to create or display Flash. Flash is commonly used to create
animation, advertisements, various web-page components, to
integrate video into web pages, and more recently, to develop
rich Internet applications.
The Flash files, traditionally called "Flash movies" or "Flash
games", have a .swf file extension and may be an object of a web
page, strictly "played" in a standalone Flash Player, or
incorporated into a Projector, a self-executing Flash movie with
the .exe extension in Windows. Flash Video files have a .flv
file extension and are utilized from within .swf files.
Adobe Aftereffects
:-
Adobe After Effects is a
digital motion graphics and compositing software published by
Adobe Systems. It can be used in film and video post-production.
After Effects uses a system of layers organized on a timeline to
create composites from still images and motion footage, such as
video files. Properties such as position and opacity can be
controlled independently for each layer, and each layer can have
effects applied. After Effects is often described as the
"Photoshop of video", because its flexibility allows compositors
to alter video in any way they see fit, as Photoshop does for
images.
Although After Effects can create images of its own, it is
generally used to composite material from other sources to make
moving graphics (also known as motion graphics). For example,
with a picture of a space ship and a picture of a star
background, After Effects could be used to place the ship in
front of the background and animate it to move across the stars.

Macromedia Flash
Adobe Flash, or simply
Flash, refers to both the Adobe Flash Player, and to the Adobe
Flash Professional multimedia authoring program. Adobe Flash
Professional is used to create content for the Adobe Engagement
Platform (such as web applications, games and movies, and
content for mobile phones and other embedded devices). The Flash

scripting language called ActionScript and bi-directional
streaming of audio and video. There are also versions of the
Flash Player for mobile phones and other non-PC devices.
Macromedia Director :-
Macromedia Director is a
media application created by Macromedia—now part of Adobe
Systems. It allows users to build applications built on a movie
metaphor, with the user as the "director" of the movie.
Originally designed for CD-ROMs and kiosks, it has become more
popular for the use of online 3D game development.
Its scripting language Lingo motivated some to use this
application. Many companies deliver demonstrations or use it as
a user interface (UI) for content on CDs and DVDs. It can
incorporate many different file formats (e.g. AVI, BMP,
QuickTime, TIFF, PNG, JPEG, RealVideo), making it possible to
integrate without re-encoding files. It also supports vector
graphics and 3D interactivity (via Shockwave 3D), which can be
used for producing games. Version MX and its successors are also
easily linked with Flash animation.
Director's functionality can be extended through plug-in
applications called Xtras. These can be created by users or
purchased from third party vendors. They are created using
Macromedia's XDK (Xtra Development Kit), a C++ SDK.
Director started out as MacroMind "VideoWorks", an application
for the original Apple Macintosh. Its name was changed to
"Director" in 1987, with the addition of new capabilities and
the Lingo scripting language in 1988. A Windows version was
available in the early 1990s.
One type of file created by Director can be viewed in a web
browser using the Shockwave plugin. These files have a .DCR
extension.
Director can also create stand-alone executable applications
from a project, called projectors, which can be compiled for
Macintosh or Windows operating systems.
Macromedia Freehand
:-
Macromedia FreeHand is a
computer application for creating two-dimensional vector
graphics (use of geometrical primitives such as points, lines,
curves, and polygons to represent images, also known as
geometric modeling), oriented to the professional desktop
publishing market. It is available in versions for Microsoft
Windows and Mac OS X.
FreeHand is very similar in scope, intended market, and
functionality to Adobe Illustrator. It was created by Altsys and
licensed to Aldus, which released versions 1 to 4. When Aldus
merged with Adobe Systems, because of the overlapping of market
with Illustrator, Adobe returned FreeHand to Altsys soon after
the merger (after some legal wrangling, and intervention by the
Federal Trade Commission). Altsys was later bought by
Macromedia, which released FreeHand 5.0, 5.5 (Mac only), 7, 8,
9, 10 and 11/MX. In 2005 Adobe acquired Macromedia, thus
returning the FreeHand product to Adobe.
A flexible application, it is used for page layout (especially
since version 4 which was based on Altsys Virtuoso for NeXTstep
and had multi-page capabilities) as well as the creation and
editing of vector graphic files for print and the Web.
Its current version, FreeHand 11, is marketed as FreeHand MX,
which shows its integration with the Macromedia MX line of
products, which also includes Macromedia Flash, Macromedia
Dreamweaver and Macromedia Fireworks and more.

Macromedia fireworks
:-
Adobe Fireworks, also
known as FW for short, is a bitmap and vector graphics editor.
It was originally developed by Macromedia, which Adobe acquired
in 2005, and aimed at web designers (with features such as:
slices, the ability to add hotspots etc.). It is designed to
integrate easily with other former Macromedia products, such as
the popular Adobe Dreamweaver and Adobe Flash. It is available
as a stand-alone product or bundled with CS3. Version 8 was also
bundled with Macromedia Studio 8.
Autodesk Max
:-
Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ:
ADSK), a Fortune 1000 company, is a software and services
company for the manufacturing, infrastructure, building, media
and entertainment, and wireless data services fields. Autodesk
was founded by John Walker and twelve other co-founders in 1982.
Over its history, it has had various locations in Marin County,
California, USA. It is currently headquartered in San Rafael,
California.
Autodesk Maya :-
Maya is a high-end 3D
computer graphics and 3D modeling software package originally
developed by Alias Systems Corporation, but now owned by
Autodesk as part of the Media and Entertainment division.
Autodesk acquired the software in October 2005 upon purchasing
Alias. Maya is used in the film and TV industry, as well as for
computer and video games.
In 2003, Maya (then owned by Alias) won an Academy Award "for
scientific and technical achievement", citing use "on nearly
every feature using 3-D computer-generated images."[1].
Autodesk Combustion :-
Combustion 4 is a
computer program "for motion graphics, compositing and visual
effects" (Discreet, n.d.). The software retails for $USD995 (MacMinute,
2004). It is commonly likened to Adobe's After Effects, and also
shares a similar interface with Autodesk's (formerly Discreet)
higher-end offerings (Inferno, Flame, and Flint, all three of
which are still marketed under the "Discreet" name).
Corel :-
Corel was founded by
Michael Cowpland in 1985, who intended it to be a research
laboratory ("Corel" is an abbreviation of "Cowpland Research
Laboratory"). The company saw great success early in the
high-tech boom of the nineties with the product CorelDraw, and
became, for a time, the biggest software company in Canada.
Corel made many early investors very wealthy, but its strong
growth did not last. It attempted to compete with Microsoft
after acquiring the WordPerfect software in 1996, but it failed
badly. Corel was forced to lay-off large numbers of employees
and Cowpland came under investigation by the Ontario Securities
Commission for insider trading.
In August 2003, Corel was
wholly acquired by Vector Capital, a private equity firm, for a
price of $1 a share (slightly more than the cash in the
company). The company was voluntarily delisted from the NASDAQ
and Toronto stock exchanges. Some U.S. shareholders alleged the
management benefited from the buyout personally while the buyout
price was too low. A lawsuit was filed in the U.S. to stop the
buyout and was unsuccessful. Some believe this contributed to
the cold reception in the investment community in the 2006 IPO.
Bryce
:-
Bryce is a 3D modeling,
rendering and animation program specializing in fractal
landscapes. The name is taken from Bryce Canyon — a rugged
region with many of the same landscapes that were first
simulated with the software.[1].
Poser
:-
Poser
is a 3D rendering and animation software program optimized for
models that depict the human figure in three-dimensional form.
Sony Sound forge
:-
Sony Sound
Forge,
formerly known as
Sonic Foundry Sound Forge, is a digital audio editing
and creation suite aimed at the professional as well as the
semi-professional market.
A limited version sold as
Sound Forge Audio Studio provides an inexpensive
entry-level
digital audio editor; it was formerly known as Sonic
Foundry's Sound Forge LE.
Sony Vegas :-
Sony Vegas is a
non-Linear editing system produced by Sony Creative Software.
Currently, it runs on Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/2003. Vegas also
runs on Vista but is not yet officially supported. In April
2007, however, Sony along with AMD jointly demonstrated a soon
to be released 64bit version of Vegas running on 64bit Vista.
Originally developed as an audio editor, it developed quickly
into a complete NLE for video and audio from version 2.0. Vegas
now features realtime multitrack video and audio editing on
unlimited tracks, resolution independent video sequencing,
complex effects and compositing tools, 24-bit/192 kHz audio
support, VST and DirectX plug-in effect support, and Dolby
Digital surround sound mixing.
Vegas comes in a variety of price points based on the bundled
programs and extensibility of features. The consumer level Vegas
Movie Studio version (formerly titled VideoFactory and
Screenblast) shares the same interface and underlying code base
as the professional Vegas version, but does not include
professional features like 24p editing and advanced compositing
tools. Also available is Vegas + DVD, which bundles the DVD
authoring software DVD Architect, as well as Boris FX LTD and
Magic Bullet Movie Looks HD.
Pinnacle studio
:-
Pinnacle Studio is a
non-linear video editing software application manufactured by
Pinnacle Systems, a division of Avid Technology. It is the
consumer level counterpart to Pinnacle's former professional
level software, Liquid Edition (now Avid Liquid). It also
inherits from VOB Computersysteme's Instant CD/DVD. Studio
allows users to author video content, create VCD/DVDs with menus
and burn them without the need for any additional software.
Pinnacle also released a product called Studio Deluxe, which
featured the Studio software, a Firewire PCI card with a
breakout box featuring analog video inputs/outputs, as well as
Hollywood FX Plus.
Since version 9, Studio has been sold in two editions: Studio
and Studio Plus, with some additional functionality in the Plus
edition. This software competes with other consumer video
editors such as Adobe Premiere Elements. Pinnacle Studio may be
purchased separately, but is also included in bundled packages
which include video capture hardware. In addition, a cut-down SE
version entitled Pinnacle Studio QuickStart is included with the
Pinnacle Dazzle and Pinnacle PCTV products.
QuarkXPress
:-
QuarkXPress (QXP) is a
computer application for creating and editing complex page
layouts in a WYSIWYG environment. It runs on Mac OS X and
Windows. It was first released by Quark, Inc. in 1987 and is
still owned and published by them. The most recent version is
7.3 and includes editions for publishing in American English,
International English, and over a dozen other languages.
QuarkXPress is primarily used by large publishing houses to
produce the kinds of complex page layouts required by magazines,
newspapers, catalogs, and similar printed materials. It is one
of two products (the other being Adobe InDesign) that dominate
that market
space.

XHTML
XHTML, the standard, was first released in the year
2000. Around five years after that, we begin to see
major websites revised to use this standard. Even
the popular whipping boy of standards - compliance
punditry, Microsoft, presents their primary
homepages, msn.com and microsoft.com in XHTML.
Standards compliant XHTML sites are still not that
many. There is a simple reason. When the W3C
released the new standard, the rest of the web
running on HTML did not stop to function. Nor will
the rest of the web, written in various types of
HTML, stop to function any time soon. Without any
great need to follow the new standard, designers
carry on using the old, familiar methods. Why bother
switching when these methods will perform in any
modern browser!
To
the casual Internet user, the standards of HTML are
fairly direct. If a site displays without a serious
error and functions to their satisfaction, these
standards are met. Whatever additional steps the
browser took to allow such display is irrelevant to
most users. The kind of mentality this brings in is
difficult to overcome in designers used to in their
old methods.
There may be considerable technical obstacles to
adopting XHTML, especially as regards large,
existing websites with complicated scripting. Yet
the time may ultimately come where yesterday's
"tried and true" HTML gets difficult to be
interpreted by modern electronic devices. Whether
one agrees with the direction the W3C takes in the
development of HTML is not of importance, you are
just along for the ride. With a little effort, it is
possible to get the hang of XHTML. In form, it is
not as different from HTML as Japanese is from
English. Knowing HTML grants a basic knowledge of
the language, it only becomes a matter of learning a
particular dialect.
Benefits of XHTML
There are 2 main b enefits to using XHTML. First is
the strict nature of valid XHTML documents. "Valid"
documents have no errors and documents with no
errors is parsed more easily by the browser. Though
the time saved is indeed negligible from the human
user's point of view, there is a greater efficiency
to the browser's performance. Most modern browsers
will function well in what is generally referred to
as "quirks" mode, where, with no on-page information
about the kind of HTML they are reading, present a
"best guess" rendering of a page. The quirks mode
will also overlook many errors in the HTML. Modern
browsers installed on your home computer are
provided with good size and power to deal with these
errors. But when the browser technology is applied
to to other appliances it may not have the size and
power to be so forgiving. It is here that the
strict, valid documents demanded by the XHTML
standard become important.
The
second benef it is in the code itself, which is more
clean and compact than common "table" based layout
in HTML. Though XHTML retains table functionality,
the standard makes clear that tables are not to be
used for page layout or anything other than
displaying data in a tabular format. This is
generally the main obstacle most designers have with
moving to XHTML. The way in which many designers
have come to rely on to layout and organize their
pages is now taboo. Simple visual inspection of
XHTML code shows how light and efficient it is,
compared to a table based HTML layout. XTHML makes
use of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), which, when
called externally, gets rid of practically all
styling information from the XHTML document itself.
This creates a document focused only on content.
XHTML uses "div" tags to define content areas. How
these "divisions" are shown is controlled by CSS.
This is known as CSS-P, or CSS Positioning. Trading
in "table" tags for "divs" can be difficult.
Learning a new way of doing an already familiar task
is generally difficult. Looking at "divs" as a type
of table cell might be helpful, though they are not
totally equivalent. As required by the XHTML
standard, always ensure there is a DOCTYPE
definition at the top of the document. This is not
only required by the standard, but it will force
Internet Explorer 6, at present the most common
browser, to enter its "standards compliance" mode.
IE6 and Firefox, both operating in standards
compliance mode will show XHTML in much the same
way. Not identical, but that is far better than IE6
operating in quirks mode. Learning how to smoothen
out the final differences between displays is the
final obstacle which can require a bit of tweaking
in the CSS.
Clean code has many benefits. It creates a smaller
page size which, over time, can save costs due to
transfer usage. Though the size difference may seem
small, for someone running a highly trafficked site,
even saving a few kilobytes of size can make a huge
difference. Also, some believe that search engines
may look more kindly on standards complaint pages.
In a general sense, any page modification that makes
the content easier to reach and higher in the code
is obviously wise. Search engines, so it is
believed, prefer to reach content fast, and give
greater weight to the first content they encounter.
Using XHTML and "div" layout allows designers to
achieve this task more easily.
XHTML is the current standard set by the W3C. The
W3C continues development of XHTML, and in future
XHTML 2.0 will replace the current standard. Hence
learning and using XHTML today will help designers
prepare for tomorrow. Valid XTHML produces no errors
that may slow down a browser, and the code produced
is clean as well as efficient. This saves in file
size and helps designers accomplish their search
engine optimization goals more efficiently. Learning
XHTML is essentially about learning a new way to lay
out pages. It may be frustrating at first but the
long term benefits far outweigh any initial
inconvenience.

3D Studio Max, Los Angeles, California, United States The original 3D Studio product was created for the DOS platform by the Yost Group and published by Autodesk. After 3D Studio Release 4, the product was rewritten for the Windows NT platform, and originally named "3D Studio MAX." This version was also originally created by the Yost Group. It was release
d by Kinetix, which was at that time Autodesk's division of media and entertainment. Autodesk purchased the product at the second release mark of the 3D Studio MAX version and internalized development entirely over the next two releases. Later, the product name was changed to "3ds max" to better comply with the naming conventions of Discreet, a Montreal-based software company which Autodesk had purchased. At release 8, the product was again branded with the Autodesk logo, and the name was again changed to "3ds Max" .
Adobe Illustrator, Washington D.C, USA Ten years ago today’s market-defining vector drawing package, Adobe Illustrator, was an underpowered embarrassment. Compared to pioneering rivals such as
Xara and Expression, Adobe’s flagship just wasn’t able to produce work with the same creative depth... Many objects in the Adobe Illustrator program can be created by starting with basic shapes and then editing them to create new shapes. In this lesson, you'll use some basic shapes to create a logo. Along the way, you'll learn how to use tools and commands to create basic shapes, copy and combine objects to create new shapes, paint objects, and more.
Multimedia, London, Unit
ed Kingdom Multimedia is simply multiple forms of media integrated together. Media can be text, graphics, audio, animation, video, data, etc. An example of multimedia is a web page on the topic of Mozart that has text regarding the composer along with an audio file of some of his music and can even include a video of his music being played in a hall.As technology progresses, so will multimedia. What you 'Dislike' about your Website Design
When it comes to
website design, knowing what visitors dislike is
an important element to ensure that they visit you
again. Let’s take a look a some elements that make
for an annoying website.
A while back I received a call from a colleague
asking me to check one of the website he had
designed. This web designer was asked to design a
pleasant flash header . The flash header design was
excellent. Some nice graphics elements were flying
in while sound effects created just the right
atmosphere, but after reviewing the website, the
header became very annoying because every time you
clicked on the website the header restarted. What
was initially pleasant became very annoying very
quickly – which lead to distracting the web visitor
and making it difficult to read what was on the
webpage. Several
webmasters, especially new webmasters are
totally “in love" with their ideas and tend to go
overboard with their web design – but one really has
to look and the overall picture.
Webmasters sometimes forget that their
website design should send a message to the
visitor that should reflect the website essence and
not the web designers skill level.
Here's a top 5 list of poor web designs and web
functionalities:
Background music – Unless you are operating an
online internet radio station or sell music CDs, why
play a midi/wav file in the background continuously
on every page – unless its adding to the experience
its is distracting to the web visitor.
Huge font size – If you are designing a website for
people with a disability then you are doing the
right thing, but if not then you are shouting – a
way around this is to have an ‘enlarge fonts’ func
Popup Windows – can make a website choppy and
dysfunctional. Popups must be used with care.

Why
every small website needs a CMS
You
are about to get a website built for your business,
you have selected a reliable, good web design house
– what’s next? Once the website is launched and
customers start rolling in, you will want to make
ongoing changes and maintain the website. There
could be small, changes but new products or shifts
in business direction, will require larger updates
to the site. More often then not the web design
should be fine but the text or photos may require
updates. While the
web design company did a great job, you do not
want to have to go back to them for every single
change - this is where a content management system
(CMS) comes in and gives your control over your
website. Websites larger than a few pages should
have a content management system or CMS. What is a
CMS? A content management system is a software
package specifically designed to manage a website,
it can be installed by the
web designers to be used by the web
administrator. A CMS provides you with a simple,
non-technical way of updating your content i.e. text
and photos. This is typically done via a web-based
interface that works much like a Facebook account
would. Just point-and-click, type in the new words,
and hit save and the website will be instantly
updated. Equally easy is adding new webpages and
deleting old webpages. The CMS can also automate
tasks, such as applying the same page layout and
appearance across the website, menu and other
navigation are also automatically produced, along
with the many other administrative tools. A content
management system has many benefits:
-
No dependency on the
web designers making changes for you.
-
Website changes can be made any time they are
needed.
-
All the technical details are handled by the
CMS, allowing anyone to manage the site.
-
Multiple staff can keep the site up to date,
instead of being restricted to just one person.
The CMS will track who is doing what.
-
Each staff person can be assigned sections of
the site they are responsible for.
-
The CMS ensures that all the pages are
consistent in design.
-
The many other powerful features of the CMS
allows the site to grow with your business.
-
The good news is that a CMS, suitable for a
modest-sized website, is not expensive, it can
be as low as a few thousand dollars, or simply a
complementary part of the web design project, if
the website is larger, or has complex
requirements, the cost of a matching CMS will
also grow.
